Best Video Games for Young Kids

2008 was a great year for new video games designed young kids. The competition has become tough and game developers have become more and more innovative and creative to be the first to bring new video games to the market. Here are some of the best kid-friendly video games for young children. All of these games are violence free and do not contain any mature themes. You are sure to find a game that matches the age and interests of your child.

For young video gamers between 4 – 6 years old, we recommend Itzabitza by Microsoft Windows for personal computers. This game has a new drawing recognition tool that incorporates a child’s artwork into the game play. Kids can play in five themed worlds and interact with the characters by reading words and drawing object that come alive in the game. The game has voice-overs for all words to assist new readers. The game changes with each drawing making every game a new adventure. We also recommend Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess by 2K Play for Nintendo Wii and DS. Kids help Dora with a rescue mission to free the Snow Princess by using 20 different motions with the Nintendo Wii remote. Kids will snowboard down mountains and explore underground tunnels. These are two of the best video games for young kids between the ages of 4 – 6.

For video gamers between 7 – 12 years old, we recommend Boon Blox by Electronic Arts for Nintendo Wii. Kids can create and destroy structures made of blocks by blasting, throwing, and catching the blocks using the Nintendo Wii remote. Stephen Spielberg collaborated with Electronic Arts to create more than 300 crazy puzzles to explore. The game offers both single player and multiplayer modes. If your kid enjoys playing Jenga or Legos, they will love this game. We also recommend, Roogoo by Electronic Arts for XBox 360. In Roo Goo, kids guide meteors that are shaped like squares, triangles, circles and stars through rotating disks to save an alien people named RooGoo from disaster. Kids develop their skills by correctly aligning the disks with the blocks. These are two of the best video games out there for young kids between the ages of 7 – 12.

If you are buying video games for a young kid, other than your own, as a birthday or holiday gift, please remember to ask what gaming systems they own before you buy the game. With all of the video games available for young kids, there is sure to be one that your special kid will love. Killzone 3 on Playstation 3

okay so i only played the demo but the demo is so incredably awsome and overall, the often forgot reason for gaming, fun, that i couldent help but write something about it.
Killzone 2 ,when boiled down to its purest form, is a well built and fun traditonal FPS with an awsome cover system and plenty of evil scum to mow down. But on top of this is all the hype, the atmospher. OK so the graphics are so good that they look like wall.e but with less fat people and more gretuatest violence and the detail is emence, enemys see you and react to an almost online level, they flank you, grenade you and even swear at you. They twist and scream when they die and take cover and evasive action when alive and so im getting killzone 2 because i give it 9/10 and its a proper FPS made emence, it isnt some stupid running game that should be 3rd person it is a SHOOTER and all in all thats what makes it so great

Playstation 3

Sony’s Playstation 3 is a multi-faceted home entertainment device. It is not only a game system but it has the capability of playing Blu-ray discs, can store downloaded music as well as videos and the display of digital photos. An Ethernet port and built in Wi-Fi make the connection to your home network easy. There’s even memory card and USB ports so you can transfer media files onto the console’s hard drive, or for connecting your mice and other peripheral devices to the game system. This is not only one of the most popular game systems on the market; this is also the most inexpensive Blu-Ray player on the market.

When you turn on the game system, an easy to use menu is brought up so you can access stored media, games and settings. If you pop a Blu-Ray disc into the console, it will add it to the top of the ‘video’ menu. It’s important to note that Blu-Ray play on the Playstation 3 is lightning fast. If you select Blu-Ray from the menu, the movie begins immediately. There’s none of the whirring noise and delay that you get from dedicated Blu-Ray machines. The image quality for Blu-Ray and games is excellent and on a level with the best of the HD machines.

For game play, the Playstation 3 delivers all the bells and whistles one would expect from Sony and this line of game consoles. They’ve been fantastically successful over the years with the various releases of new generation Playstations. This third generation comes in three configurations; a 60GB, an 80GB and a 120GB. It is important to keep in mind that Sony has been phasing out the 60GB version for some time now. The console’s sound system is surround and has the ability to hook up to external receiver. Your games have never looked or sounded so good.

Overall, the Playstation 3 is a solid choice for your game play and Blu-Ray needs. It comes from industry leader Sony, has a cool design and application interface, and all games are in high definition. The console plays standard DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. It has built in Wi-Fi and a flash media reader. Online game play is free, the output is HDMI and it plays PS2 and PS1 games. This game system delivers all you want and more. It is an excellent stand alone game system, but when you factor in the PS3’s ability to play Blu-Ray and standard DVDs it becomes an affordable and fantastic home theatre console.
